(P2) The National Research and Development Institute for Soil Science, Agrochemistry and Environment Protection (http://www.icpa.ro/) caries out complex research activities in environment sciences: agrochemistry, soil science, and environment protection. It draws up methodologies for sustainable soil and terrain resources use assessment. It evaluates land. It evaluates soil quality and establishes protection, preservation, and improvement measures. It studies soil pollution in relation with air, waters, and ground waters pollution and its consequences upon human health. It caries out pedological studies for agricultural use reorganization and resources preservation on different levels: village, commune, city, county.

Prof. dr. Radu Lãcãtușu (WP2) is a senior scientific researcher and a professor at the „Al. I. Cuza” University of Iași. He specialized in geochemistry and carried out several agrochemical and environment studies. He is head of the Laboratory Interrelations soil-plant and food quality. He coordinated several projects regarding metallic elements’ (zinc, copper, iron, manganese, lead, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, nickel, selenium, molybdenum) abundance in soils, sediments, water, and plants. He co-coordinates the national consortium for the biogeochemistry of trace elements with dr. Iordache (they have run partnerships projects in the past and co-authored recently a Springer chapter).
